ABSTRACT

The Yekaterinburg mosque is situated to the south-west of the city centre, in an area which has at times been inhabited by gypsies. There used to be a bus which went near to the mosque but the route has been discontinued, so the believers now have to walk three or four kilometres on foot. The mullah is not sure whether or not the discontinuation of the bus route had anything at all to do with the presence of the mosque, but he has written to the city authorities asking for a bus service to be re-established, at least on Fridays.
