ABSTRACT

Domestic Violence Many times men come into group with one basic philosophy: “It was because of the alcohol or drugs that I hit her.” This thought pattern is consistent with the other forms of denial that we see batterers hold onto when they enter into group work-many of those we have covered in other exercises within this book. However, we see a greater number of batterers use alcohol or drug use as the sole excuse for the abuse, often stating that abuse happened “only” when they were intoxicated.
