ABSTRACT

Up until this time, Nora’s exposure to employment, other than the disastrous time at McDonald’s, began with two volunteer positions—first, at the Dinosaur Museum where she apprenticed to classify and restore fossil fragments; and second, as a sitter-respite worker for mothers of autistic children. This vignette describes her first real work in a paid position during the second summer of our work together. A whole different set of needs surfaced in this new setting, illustrating a few of the kinds of educational therapy interventions that are relevant to the world of work.
