ABSTRACT
Being together is second only to eating. and on arrival in Israel, Ethiopian jews immediately recreate the social life of their former Ethiopian villages. This chapter describes the dense web of social relations that Ethiopian Israelis have formed amongst themselves as neighbours and kin. Their success in this venture accounts to a large extent for their well-being in Lsrael.
