ABSTRACT

Who wrote this poem? (It is a collaborative poem – with many children contributing a line to it.)

The lack of rhyme. A poem has carefully chosen words – sometimes the words are chosen to rhyme, sometimes they are chosen for their meaning, sometimes for their sound/music or alliteration. In this case, the words have been chosen for their images – for their figurative language. The poem is in free verse. It has no rhymes but the language is still carefully chosen.
