ABSTRACT

Since the first edition of this book, there have been many initiatives aimed at reducing the incidence or impact of intimate partner violence. There have been a raft of British Government responses to domestic violence, including the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act 2003 and new assessments and interventions across agencies (e.g. Metropolitan Police Service 2003; National Probation Service 2007) and there is ongoing academic work. Yet, there are still substantial gaps in knowledge and provision.
