ABSTRACT

It’s interesting to note that the word ‘confi dence’ shares its origins with ‘confi de’, from the Latin ‘to trust’, which itself derives from the Greek term ‘to believe’. So signifi cantly confi dence amounts to belief and trust in oneself, in the same way that self-esteem at its heart is how we estimate ourselves – though ironically for many people their sense of self-esteem is based on the judgements and opinions of others.
