ABSTRACT

The verb yào can be followed by nouns or verbs whilst xikng must be followed by another verb if the meaning ‘to want’ is intended. When xikng is followed by a noun or a sentence, it means ‘to miss’ or ‘to think’. For example:

Wn xiKng kafbi. I miss coffee. Wn xiKng, ta èrshí zunyòu. I think he’s about twenty.
