ABSTRACT

Female leadership is not a ®xed thing. It is neither a commodity nor a position. In this book, female leadership is understood to mean what a woman does when she takes charge of herself in a given situation, makes choices about how to act, and takes her own decisions about the direction and purpose of these actions. In most cases it has implications for other people. In that sense, she is responsible for others as well. Female leadership is an aspect of all forms of leadership. Characteristic for female leadership speci®- cally is that it acknowledges and consciously attends to the different dimensions of the leadership process. In what follows I will re¯ect on the nature of these dimensions.
