ABSTRACT

After the transfer of power in 1949, China's borders were more or less closed to foreigners for many years. Vilhelm's and Kirsten's daughters had thus no idea what had become of the Meyer's home and business premises in China. But in 1991-92, when the country had again embarked on an 'open door' policy in regard to the outside world, it was possible for me to visit the places the family had frequented in China.
