The war had brought the new superpower, the United States of America, on to the world stage in earnest. In Shanghai the American involvement in trade and industrialization had significantly increased and in New York, the new holding company, the Pacific Development Corporation, was in a highly expansive phase. An impressive office building was erected at 80 Wall Street and the new corporation moved in.
