ABSTRACT

The present volume brought together complementing chapters that jointly illuminate the social psychological perspective of conflicts and their resolution in a systematic and coherent way. The chapters can be viewed as pieces of a puzzle that are assembled to provide a holistic and comprehensive picture of issues that stand at the heart of the discussion about conflicts. The chapters provide theoretical conceptions, review empirical evidence and few of them refer to specific conflicts, but none of the chapters analyzes a particular case of a conflict. This accumulated knowledge proposes that human beings whenever they are in harsh conflict situation perceive, think, experience, evaluate, infer, feel, make decisions and act on the basis of human principles that psychology in general, and specifically social psychology, elucidated.
