In considering Restorative Practice, this book recognizes that responsive approaches, in the United Kingdom at least, have evolved out of two main processes: Mediation and Restorative Justice-based Interventions (hereafter Restorative Interventions). Each of these processes has its own developmental background (see Chapter 2) and is used in different contexts outside schools. Variations on each process are also currently practised within schools in a variety of contexts.
