ABSTRACT

In the ®nal phase of ACT, clients are supported as they practise actively pursuing patterns of committed action that are linked to chosen values. As clients engage in this process, they will inevitably make contact with both external and psychological barriers that have the potential to interrupt or halt behavioural movement in valued directions. These barriers are not viewed as problems in ACT, but rather as powerful learning opportunities for cultivating even greater levels of psychological ¯exibility (Luoma et al., 2007).
