ABSTRACT

In this chapter we focus on the shared process of conducting risk assessment and, in line with the shared understanding of phenomenology principle, we suggest how the different skills and roles of Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) members can best be utilised in this process. We offer guidance on how shared risk assessments can be used to facilitate care planning and treatment by teams and show when management and supervision are needed. Finally, we consider in which settings and circumstances shared risk assessment is most useful and cases where our fuller Shared Assessment, Formulation and Education (SAFE) process may be more usefully employed.
