ABSTRACT
The anarchistic movement around and after 1900 addressed to some extent the question of sexual liberation and with it the idea of sexual revolution. There are apparent links between intellectuals, bohemians and anarchism. Sigmund Freud wrote about anarchism in 1933 in one of his lectures on psychoanalysis and Weltanschauung:
According to the anarchist theory there is no such thing as truth, no assured knowledge of the external world. What we give out as being scienti®c truth is only the product of our needs as they are bound to ®nd utterance under changing external conditions: once again, they are illusion. [. . .] All I can say is that the anarchist theory sounds wonderfully superior so long as it relates to opinions about abstract things: it breaks down with its ®rst step into practical life.
