I understand from a 2006 Newsweek article that you hope to “grok” “this mysterious thing” called education.1 I have read your 2008 and 2009 annual reports and note your desire to use data toward innovation in pursuit of increased impact.2 I see your commitment to creating an environment where your staff can do its best work, including listening more closely to your partners in the fi eld on the basis of a recent survey of ‘grantee perception’ of how relations are and are not working.
