ABSTRACT
CULTURE REFERS TO THE beliefs and behaviors of groups and interculturallyto the relationship between groups of people. The term collective refers to this characteristic of “groupness.” In the context of intercultural relations, the collective function of art has increasingly become a concern in art theory and aesthetics. What is the origin of the collective function of art? Why does art have meaning for groups of people in addition to its meaning for individuals? And how does the collective meaning of art spread from one group to another?
