ABSTRACT
What RLV does not mean is that laws are the axioms of the theory we currently think is best. Ptolemaic science might have held that the Earth was at the centre of the universe and (we might imagine) was the best science of the day. However, that does not mean that, back in the time of ancient Greece, it was a law of nature that the Earth was the centre of everything! Instead, what is intended is that we look to the best theory even if we do not know it yet. So, it is the theory that scientists would come up with if they were given enough time and resources to make a theory that was better than any other theory that could be.
