ABSTRACT
As long as I can remember, I have owned a picture book called Margaret Field-Mouse, written and drawn by Cam (1946/1950). It was more expensive than my parents could really afford when I was a small child, but they bought it anyway because of the heroine’s name and because they lost their hearts to the rich illustrations of Margaret and her friend Crocus the Frog.
