ABSTRACT

Although teachers and textbooks often recognise the close relationship that exists between mathematics and the science and technology subjects, it is frequently implied that mathematics has little to no association with subjects such as English. In one sense this is true; it is clear that there is signifi cantly less content that appears in both subjects’ curricula. However, in a deeper sense this understanding is fl awed, as the tools learnt in each subject can be used to profoundly benefi t the other.
