ABSTRACT
Walking in a crowded street for hours is probably not the most advisable way to spend an afternoon in Hong Kong’s hot and humid summer. It becomes worse if you have to stand in the sun for hours just to wait for your turn to start walking. But about 500,000 Hong Kong citizens did exactly that on July 1, 2003, by joining the second-largest protest in the history of the city.1
