ABSTRACT
Popper was a realist, and thought that the aim of science is to fi nd true, or increasingly truthlike, theories. But the key idea behind his methodological proposals was that we should proceed by ruling out false theories. Popper employed an evolutionary analogy-or so-called ‘evolutionary epistemology’—in an attempt to bridge the gap and argue that this means can achieve the aim.
