ABSTRACT

There are three main goals in the Web of Entanglements activity. One is to assist the therapist and client in clearly defining the immediate problems and goals in therapy. In other words, it can be employed as a problem-identifying device or as a clarifying tool. The second is to help visually show how a client’s problems are interconnected. By doing this, clients see that by changing one problem, they have the opportunity to effect change in other areas. Finally, by seeing problems shared in a group setting, it can help clients recognize how many issues they have in common. This can help group members form relationships with one another, help them to bond over their problems, and create empathy among group members.
