ABSTRACT

The objective of the How-To Book is to introduce the concept of purposeful change as a possibility for the participant and to provide a model-driven vehicle for the desired, voluntarily selfidentified change. The questions in the How-To Book (Handout 19.1) are very straightforward and designed to

• stimulate and focus the process of the group, • provide a sense of self-evaluation as the participant chooses to, or chooses not to, progress

through the Stages of Change, and • teach the process as a universally applicable system for behavioral change.
