ABSTRACT

Rationale for Use College students face many issues, including managing academics and negotiating with

roommates, dates, friends, and parents. Many of the issues revolve around having a lack of control in a situation, as well as handling the stress involved in daily life issues. Seyle (1974) found that an individual who experiences a stressful event also experiences a physiological reaction, regardless of the type of stressor that was involved. This stress reaction can be destructive to one’s health (Seyle, 1956). Among college students, impending exams, fear of failure, and academic ability have been linked to increased stress levels (Hughes, 2005). Further, negative social interactions have also been linked to well-being and health factors (Edwards, Hershberger, Russell, & Markert, 2001).
