ABSTRACT

This activity will give caregivers of children with cancer a chance to address their concerns about progressing toward normal family life cycle events. It is designed to be a visual tool for group facilitators to use to validate the ambivalence of caregivers about going on with family life in the midst of illness, while supporting their efforts to regain family equilibrium. The main objectives of the activity are to

1. Identify the developmental stages and needs of the family. 2. Enlarge the network of supportive individuals available to the family (psychological team,

medical team, and fellow caregivers). 3. Help caregivers problem solve ways to meet normal, developmental family needs in the

midst of caring for a child who has cancer.
