ABSTRACT

How, why, when and where could you run storytelling sessions in schools or any comparable educational circumstance? There is, of course, no one context, no one way to run storytelling sessions, just as there is no one way to tell stories and indeed no one and only way to teach. The more people use storytelling approaches and the more open-mindedly they do so, the more they evolve their own ways to use them and the broader the relevance they find in them. There are, though, some basic questions to answer and some general methods and practical tips to pass on, as well as some important principles, all of which will help in getting the best out of the material in this book and making them relevant to your practice. Those are what I’ll deal with in this chapter. Hints about the use of specific ideas will follow throughout the book.
