ABSTRACT
The Real Life Heroes Storybook was written especially for children between the ages of six and twelve. In pilot studies, the workbook has been found to work well with adolescents who are developmentally in this age range, especially thirteen-to fourteen-year-olds. The workbook has also been effective with older adolescents with adaptations of the themes addressed on each page, use of group activities, and more age-appropriate creative arts. Removing or replacing the child-centered graphics in the workbook has often been sufficient to engage older adolescents who are struggling developmentally with challenges addressed in this curriculum. Pages can also be pulled out for group activities or individual therapy sessions.
