ABSTRACT

The one word that is commonly used these days to sum up the rapid changes occurring in human society is “globalization.” This word has become the catchphrase of the late twentieth century and often means different things to different people. Globalization sounds rather innocuous and even seeks to invoke some positive images in one’s mind: that it is an altruistic geographical notion that attempts to integrate the “globe”; that it rotates on its own moral axis and revolves around the notion of universal peace and justice; and that this “chance-discovery” of humanity has had no past and is completely devoid of the political. Most of the discussions on globalization indeed reflect this naïve understanding.
