ABSTRACT

In this not too easy text there is talk about two groups: one group of ?~RB on the border of the land of the ijashid, and another living in the land of the ~RB. 62 If we assume that these are not identical and that the border regions of ijashid are different from the land of the ~RB, it is likely that those who have 'sinned' against the kings of Saba are those on the borders of ijashid If we are to judge from the texts treated so far, it can be assumed that 'the lands of the ~RB' (?RQT ~RB-N) lie farther north. If it is identical wi~ 'the land of the ~RB' (?RQ ~RB-N) in Ja 560, it would be located in the region of al-Gawf or not far from there. We find once again that the Arabs who are allied with or dependent upon the kings are called ?~RB, i.e. a plural form, whereas those dwelling further out are designated with a singular or collective form: ~RB.
