ABSTRACT

The previous chapter showed how systematic patterns of metaphor about the conciliation process emerged over a timescale of months and years from multiple instances of discourse activity in the moment. Before moving on to consider the framing metaphors of CONNECTION and SEPARATION, and their important contribution to the development of empathy, we need a further piece of methodology: the distributional analysis of metaphors.
