ABSTRACT
Metaphor analysis has revealed the range of metaphors used in the conciliation talk and how they changed as time went by and Jo Berry and Pat Magee came to understand each other better. In chapter 3, the research question was asked: how does metaphor contribute to the conciliation process and to the dynamics of empathy? In this chapter the dialogic uses of metaphor are examined: how do Jo and Pat use each other’s metaphors, and what does this movement of metaphors across alterity show about the conciliation process?
