Sustainable socioeconomic development Some respondents noted that the grassroots are largely ignorant of both funds and the activities of economic development projects. For example, a Border area community group leader explained the issue in the following manner:
We got a feasibility study done, because what the local authority said that all that was needed was a warehouse for goods, but we got that done and paid for it ourselves. Now it is coming around that it is not going to be a warehouse. We have got a good deal of funding, but if you went down and asked people in the street about the IFI, they wouldn’t know what you are talking about if you said “peace and reconciliation.”
