ABSTRACT
This chapter looks in detail at the way in which formal learning which took place in literacy courses might be carried over to the workplace, and the extent to which there were synergies between it and the informal learning which is so central to all workplaces. It does so through detailed casestudies of four sites; and in the process sheds light on a number of our own key findings, and on the more general training literature.
