ABSTRACT

There is no universally accepted definition of community education, since it is one of these umbrella terms which conveniently means different things to different people. It has for example been considered synonymous with dual usage of school buildings for evening institutes, youth clubs and other recreational pastimes. Similarly it has been associated with play centres and information centres or all-embracing community colleges; while to others it has been seen as the organisation and process of learning through all the social and political relationships into which an individual enters at any point in his lifetime.
