ABSTRACT
Mary and I planned to write this chapter together. Mary has an idiosyncratic and delicious way with English, and the phrase “sweet electrical greetings” goes a long way in capturing her personality: energetic, warm, generous, and funny. However, Mary has only sporadic access to email through contacts she has cultivated with mining company staff at a small community liaison office in Tari. Therefore, the process of co-authorship, in which there is a regular back-and-forth of text, commentary, emails, and revised text, proved impossible. Given these circumstances I, Holly, became the primary author of this chapter.
