ABSTRACT
Much has been said both within and beyond the museum world about the apparent reluctance of museums to tackle politically contentious issues.1 Conscious of this relative silence, I curated an exhibition which aimed to examine a subject of considerable political controversy, and moreover to highlight the means by which political arguments were waged by some of its most celebrated protagonists. This chapter concerns that exhibition and its reception.
