ABSTRACT

Four synchronized video cameras (30 Hz) with high speed shutters (1000 Hz) were placed around each subject to allow stereoscopic visualization of all data points during the golf swing. A coordinate grid was filmed prior to each subject’s testing. After a warm-up period, each subject hit a golf ball off a practice mat into a net using a five-iron (Wilson Sporting Goods Co., River Grove, Illinois) while the kinematic and myoelectric data were obtained simultaneously. The EMG signals from every electrode were sampled at 1000 Hz and high pass filtered. The raw EMG signals were then immediately displayed for evaluation of signal quality. When film and myoelectric signals of superior quality were obtained, each subject underwent maximum isometric testing of the six muscle groups evaluated in this study.
