ABSTRACT

Safrit (1986) suggests that the development of objectives is an essential first step and that evaluation procedures must be developed to determine if those objectives have been met. In some cases the measurement procedures do not seem to be consistent with the objectives established for beginning golfers. For instance, if the development of a proper grip is an objective, the evaluation plan must provide that steps be taken to determine if this was achieved. The same can be said of stance, alignment, and swing. If learning proper

technique is a major goal in beginning golf instruction, it follows that a sound evaluation plan will allow the teacher and the student to know if the goal was achieved.
