ABSTRACT
Thomas Kincaid was born in Edinbugh in 1661. He studied to be a physician but never practised as one, seemingly having sufficient independent means to devote his time to golf, archery, and literature. He was known in his life time as a champion archer and a composer of Latin verse, and was described by a contemporary as “learned above the common lot and well versed in the humanities.”
