The second study [4] focussed on conforming U-grooves and V-grooves on both the five-iron and the pitching wedge and attempted to quantify the difference in the spin-rate which each of these grooves produced on a wound balata-covered (WBC) ball and a twopiece surlyn-covered (TPSC) ball.
