ABSTRACT
In this and the following chapter, I reflect on two of the main issues which I see facing those of us concerned with the general theory of language mixing. Though I refer here and there to factual points developed in earlier substantive chapters, I am more interested here in locating this study in a wider perspective. It would have been premature and distracting to have injected these reflections in the earlier chapters.
