ABSTRACT
Without water, there could be no life; and Bahrain had sweet, fresh water in abundance. It gushed out of springs, and bubbled up under the sea. It had come many hundreds of miles, by subterranean channels, from the North. Upon that ample supply of fresh, sweet water, was built the culture and urban life of the island.
