ABSTRACT
The role of critical perspectives and theory in a study of the media Media Studies is a discipline full of theories. On one level this is great news because it allows you lots of opportunities for looking at theoretical perspectives. Any text you look at is likely to lend itself to a whole host of different tools with which to prise it open. Marxist, feminist or postmodernist theories are all likely to be applicable to the texts that you want to explore.
