ABSTRACT

Before doing a systematic analysis of American school politics from the local to the global, I would like the reader to consider the public’s deliberation about schools, particularly the existence of a general crisis mentality that doesn’t seem to be shared by students and parents. What are the most important issues in this crisis mentality and in the politics of education? Throughout this book I will touch on the three most important questions discussed by the public and which are at the heart of the politics of education:

1. What knowledge is most worth teaching? 2. What are the best methods and school organization for teaching this

knowledge? 3. What should be the cost of disseminating this knowledge? 4. What educational ideology is reflected in the responses to the above

questions?
