ABSTRACT

In Chapter 1 I listed questions to aid the reader in analyzing educational politics and policies. These questions included ones about citizens’ decisions regarding representation at all levels of government and direct votes on referenda. Presumably there is a relationship between what a voter knows and the quality of their decisions at the voting booth and in trying to influence representatives. I have rephrased some of the questions asked in Chapter 1 so that they directly pertain to preparing citizens to make knowledgeable political decisions:

• What knowledge is important to teach so that citizens can make knowledgeable political decisions?
