ABSTRACT

In this chapter I address mentoring related to learning and performance at the instructional, group, and relationship levels and within the graduate context of mentoring. Self-regulated mentoring, which integrates self-regulated learning (SRL) and mentorship, is a new concept. Also described herein are various learning strategies that foster the development and success of doctoral students. Issues relevant to learning and performance through self-regulation are included, as well as SRL mentorship approaches with adult students. Mentee, protégé, and learner are terms used interchangeably.
