PELEUS’S HUG: Survival, containment, and con-viction in the analytic experience with serious pathologies

Like many psychoanalysts of my generation, I come from psychiatry. I worked as a psychiatric doctor for many years in public institutions, first in a psychiatric hospital and then in a specialized ward of a general hospital and in a regional psychotherapy center. I maintained a continuing relationship with them as an advisor, even after having dedicated myself to psychoanalysis full-time.
