ABSTRACT
When Gabbard and Westen’s article dedicated to the developments of the therapeutic perspective in contemporary psychoanalysis appeared in the International Journal of Psychoanalysis in 2003, I, like many of my colleagues, greatly appreciated the broad, balanced nature – in some ways an intentionally ‘ecumenical’ one – of this review of therapeutic factors put forward by the two authors.
